The Best Waterside Restaurants – Where to Eat After a Cruise in Masuria?
Lakeside restaurants in Masuria
Masuria offers many restaurants with a view of the water, specialising in fish dishes and regional Warmia-Masuria cuisine. Here are the places we especially recommend to sailors mooring up after a day on the lake.
Giżycko – the culinary heart of Masuria
Giżycko is the largest sailing hub in Masuria and, at the same time, one of the best places for food in the region. Along the marina you'll find over a dozen restaurants and bars catering to both regulars and seasonal visitors. Be sure to try Masurian smoked carp and Warmian-style pike – dishes you shouldn't miss in this area.
Mikołajki – the capital of Masurian holidays
Mikołajki, known as the "capital of Masuria", offers a rich culinary scene concentrated mainly along the promenade on Lake Mikołajskie. Restaurants by the mooring serve fresh fish straight from the lake – fried fish, fish soups and pikeperch fillets are local specialities. In season, booking ahead is strongly advised.
Węgorzewo and Sztynort
If you're looking for a quieter alternative to busy Giżycko, Węgorzewo and historic Sztynort offer cosy restaurants and bars by the marinas. The atmosphere here is more rustic, and the food is often prepared from local, seasonal ingredients.
Restaurants in Mikołajki
Spiżarnia
A place with over 20 years of tradition on the promenade by Lake Mikołajskie. The menu features Masurian fish, aromatic soups and traditional game dishes. Ideal for those who want to taste the region's authentic cuisine.
Nóż w Wodzie – Kurort Kameralny
A restaurant with a view of Lake Mikołajskie, modern décor and a garden. Its guiding idea is Slow Food – cooking exclusively with natural, local and seasonal ingredients. One of the few places in Masuria combining fine dining with an authentic sense of place.
Restaurants in Mrągowo
Tawerna Pod Byczkiem
A great choice for families: an extensive terrace overlooking Lake Czos, a playground and a children's menu. The kitchen combines classic Polish dishes with Masurian fish specialities.
Restaurants in Węgorzewo
Tawerna Albatros – Hotel Ognisty Ptak
A hotel restaurant by the port in Węgorzewo, known for professional service and a kitchen based on regional produce. An excellent spot for dinner after sailing into the marina in northern Masuria.
